Bright Lights and Cityscapes

What is a fashion student’s biggest stress about living in Toronto? It’s finding the perfect
outfit for a night out in the city of course! Ok, maybe that is stretching the truth a little, but still looking the best we can is always high on our priority list.  You never know who you might run into, and the style options are truly endless in T.O.!

For students, time is of the essence (as we really do have other stresses like studying); so I have devised a four step sure-fire plan that will help you swiftly put together a definitive metropolitan fashion statement so you can spend more time having fun instead of buried in your closet.

1. Evaluate your setting and tone for the evening. Where are you going?  A black-tie gala?
A club?  A house party? Or a cocktail party?  This first step evaluation is crucial, as it sets the stage for the appropriateness of your outfit then all subsequent steps fall into place and build on this.  In our case, we were heading to a local nightclub for dancing. The tone was causal-trendy.

2. Your clothing choices should also reflect the current season and trends. Julia’s choice conveys that spring is on its way with this stylish crop top paired with denim cutoffs.  She kept on trend by wearing sheer black tights under the shorts.

3. Rethink accessories. Stand out by wearing your favorite jewelry in unconventional ways.  Brittany sparkles using a Jennifer Lawrence Oscar trick wearing her necklace down her back in an avant-garde bold sexy move.

4. Pout with style.  Forget diamonds, lipstick is a girl’s best friend.  Nothing says Big City Glamour more than a bold lip in a dramatic new colour trend.  Rebecca looks polished and chic with her raspberry-coloured lipstick.

With these four steps completed, you are now ready to paint the town red (or raspberry) and leave an unforgettable impression.
