Joobo Shim is a 2nd year fashion communications student from Ryerson University, whose unisex designs revolve around genderless silhouettes that focus on attention to proportion, detail, and texture.
This collection--the Icarus Series--was inspired by the relationship between light and dark, with the primary source being taken from the stark contrast of lighting against the contours of sand dunes and the opulence of byzantine art.
The series features mixed fibre fabrication that contains motifs from the lines of sand dunes, and the triangular shapes from byzantine royality. Shim uses asymmetrical panels and ties to bring out the elements of the fabrics, creating depth and contrast within the garments.
