Material Culture

I should probably preface this with the note that the last photo in this series is not entirely safe for work, so if you feel like you have a creep hovering boss around maybe just don't read this.

In this post I wanted to capture the material belongings of my friend Liam. I think it's fascinating how inanimate objects can speak volumes about an individual.

A random assortment of books and journals, a bag full of film reels and a Fuck Yeah Menswear. Already from this we know that he has interests that he cares enough about the buy books on them, takes film photos and/or videos and likes menswear (and profanities, as seen later as well).

A Supreme skateboard (without trucks or wheels on it, obviously way too pretty to ride), cologne and deodorant. So from here we know he skates, appreciates somewhat unconventional art, and isn't smelly - yay Liam!

So this mug is classic Supreme paraphernalia: explicit, bold, and seemingly unrelated (mug and the subject matter). Along with the baseball and the sticker behind it we can see an obvious brand loyalty to Supreme. And that really says a lot about Liam, he doesn't care what other people think, he is comfortable going against the flow, and is very confident.

  1. Nice shots, and my definition of fashion is pretty broad, but these are more like household objects in this context. Please select a fashion subject and re-submit a post; you don't need to wait a week in this case.
