Like Mother, Like Daughter

Fashion is far more than just clothes. It is a way of expressing yourself and those who inspire you. Wanze Song, a second year Fashion Design student at Ryerson University’s School of Fashion, is a perfect example of someone who dresses with others in mind.

Her love for colour and prints comes from her mother and grandmother, as many of Wanze’s favourite clothing pieces once belonged to one of them, if not both.

Growing up, Wanze was always inspired by her mother, but didn’t always love the clothes she wore. In fact, she used to think they were a bit ugly. Now, she loves them and creates her own unique spin off of these vintage finds.

The shirt she is wearing in these photos is her favourite piece and originally belonged to her grandmother, which was then passed down to Wanze’s mother. Having known Wanze for a few years now, I can certainly say this outfit is one of her signature looks.
